I've Found More Music to Love

I picked up Buckethead's latest CD about 4 months ago or so. I started raving about it at work, which led a friend of mine to find out that Buckethead was playing here in Dallas. We bought tickets and had a blast at the show. The highlight (for me) was actually his opening act, Kid Beyond. I suggest checking Kid Beyond out. He does some amazing stuff with live looping and beatboxing. Anyway, back to Buckethead, On his latest CD "Enter the Chicken" there's a track called Coma. Coma features a ethereal alto singing over Buckethead's guitar. I looked up this woman, and discovered Azam Ali. I picked up three of her CDs and have been enthralled ever since. I still need to pick up her latest CD but have been thoroughly enjoying her latest collaborative project, Niyaz. If you had to put it in a genre, I'd put it somewhere between Persian world music and new age, sort of a sad Arabic Loreena McKennit. Give the first track of Niyaz a listen.

Running simplescalar on Ubuntu in alpha config

I have to post this for future reference as there were so many pain points just getting simplescalar running that I needed to mirror some links and consolidate some tutorials. Here's a good guide to installing simplescalar . I'll mirror some of the information from another guide that worked for me as well. Phoebe loves shoes

OMG Shoes. Phoebe loves them. At any given moment Phoebe is either swapping shoes, trying on shoes, or digging through someone's closet for new shoes. Our recent trip to Bryan, TX to visit family, brought us to a children's play museum. There was a small selection of dress up items which of course included shoes. Phoebe immediately began prancing around in her new shoes. 59585|400 Heather wanted some pictures of Phoebe in her cousins boy clothes as well. I Don't Mind

I don't mind the rapid spreading contagion of nerdity (I made the word nerdity up, which I think makes me a nerd. A fact that was never in doubt). My only lament is her hesitance to adopt my music. Seriously, I listen to some awesome music. Every week I find new bands, new sounds, and every once in a while I find gold. The only problem is that I've trained myself to like the weirdest stuff I can find. For example: [audio:01-unexpect-chromatic_chimera.mp3] The band is called uneXpect. They're probably considered metal but they have a certain jazz/circus music/opera influence. They're similar to Sleepytime Guerilla Museum but much heavier.
