More updates coming

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything. I know my general lack of communication is only compounded by the fact that I'm too lazy to update our family blog very often.

I had fallen behind on updates and the prospect of reworking all the plug-ins. This really isn't much of an excuse. I can avoid the constant Ron Paul posts now since he seems to be getting some decent press. Here's some quick snippets that I'll either elaborate on or just leave as snippets.


  • Catan and Carcasonne are both on Xbox live Arcade. Let me know if you ever want to play a quick game.

  • Sophia is hilarious. (more on this later).

  • Forza Motorsport 2 is the best game ever made.

  • Work is going well. I'm making a lot of headway on my latest project. I think I spend 1/4 of my time telling people how it's going. If I could avoid that I'd be done a lot sooner. As it stands this project will keep me busy through the end of the year.

  • Heather was on bedrest for the last 2 weeks. Everything is now fine and she is no longer on bedrest.

  • The baby is sitting breach so Heather has an appointment on Monday to correct that.

  • I was on Jury Duty last week for a murder trial. I'll include the full story in a few posts. (Guilty, Life Sentence)

  • I've started listening to a few podcasts while in the car. (This week in Tech, 1up Yours, and Wait Wait don't tell me are my faves). Let me know if you have any suggestions on some interesting podcasts to listen to.

Running simplescalar on Ubuntu in alpha config

I have to post this for future reference as there were so many pain points just getting simplescalar running that I needed to mirror some links and consolidate some tutorials. Here's a good guide to installing simplescalar . I'll mirror some of the information from another guide that worked for me as well. Phoebe loves shoes

OMG Shoes. Phoebe loves them. At any given moment Phoebe is either swapping shoes, trying on shoes, or digging through someone's closet for new shoes. Our recent trip to Bryan, TX to visit family, brought us to a children's play museum. There was a small selection of dress up items which of course included shoes. Phoebe immediately began prancing around in her new shoes. 59585|400 Heather wanted some pictures of Phoebe in her cousins boy clothes as well. I Don't Mind

I don't mind the rapid spreading contagion of nerdity (I made the word nerdity up, which I think makes me a nerd. A fact that was never in doubt). My only lament is her hesitance to adopt my music. Seriously, I listen to some awesome music. Every week I find new bands, new sounds, and every once in a while I find gold. The only problem is that I've trained myself to like the weirdest stuff I can find. For example: [audio:01-unexpect-chromatic_chimera.mp3] The band is called uneXpect. They're probably considered metal but they have a certain jazz/circus music/opera influence. They're similar to Sleepytime Guerilla Museum but much heavier. Anyway, I'm a huge fan and really have to suggest picking up their latest release In a Flesh Aquarium . I've also been doing some hunting lately and need to share the fruits of my searching.
