Obama WINS
Well, at least he wins the Atchley home phone call record of the Presidential candidates.
I spoke with a live person from Obama and Ron Paul campaigns, or at least a supporter cold calling.
I'm still holding out for a general election Mormon showdown between Mitt Romney and Harry Reid in 2016.
- 5 total calls from Obama or supporters
- 3 total calls from Ron Paul or supporters
- 1 call from Clinton

ReplyDeleteHillary was quoted as saying she thought we were moving to a joint Clinton Obama ticket it just wasn't clear who would be on top. Which sounds much worse when you type it out. No wonder Nader is running again, if the choice is between Clinton and McCain, democrats are going to have to vote for someone. Do you know which other minor candidates are going to be running
ReplyDeleteNo. I'm going to vote libertarian in the general election. They should make it onto most every state ballot. They're still trying to see who they'll get as a candidate. Not that it's the only alternative. Nader's energy bias bothers me on a scientific level, but his consumer advocacy pushes are awesome.
ReplyDeleteSome of his views are great. Ending corporate personhood, which would effectively cut patent and copyright abuse to reasonable levels. His consumer advocay and work over the years is amazing and were we to move towards a more laissez faire market his work would be absolutely necessary to a functioning informed consumer market. My only problem is that as soon as he gains government power he would cease being a consumer advocate and begin to be a government advocate.
There's also the constitution party... socialist, green etc etc. I'm pretty sure Nader is backed by the green party. I wish we'd start to switch the senate to a more idealogically representative style, and let the House of Rep maintain geographic representation.
I don't think I'll be voting for Nader either, it just seems a good year for him to be campaigning. I am getting so sick of the rhetoric, that anyone with half a brain knows the candidates don't mean. Both Dems are calling for killing Nafta, which will happen sometime after Death Valley freezes over. Too many companies have too much money invested in Canada and Mexico for it to be viable to shut it down. Not to mention a recession is not exactly the time to talk about forcing companies to raise prices due to either tariffs (if they keep production where it is) or higher labor costs (if they move it back). Either way it would favor japanese car makers in the South who somehow build cars here in America even though the Domestic car makers can't.
ReplyDeleteAs to idealogical representation, there is too much state pride in the low population states. Alaska would only have one congressman to represent its needs because it doesn't have the population to control any of the idealogues.
