Terrible 2's
BJ tells me when he gets in the car today after church that when he went to go pick Sophia up from nursery that she was standing in the corner. He said she was PUT in the corner for "putting another child in a choke hold, taking toys multiple times from multiple kids, and hit a child." My first reaction was shock and disappointment with her, but then it turned into an attitude of not being so surprised when I think about what we have been going through at home......
--she sasses back at me now
--she tries to hit at me randomly, and even kick at me too
--every day she finds a way to kick, push, body bump, or hit Phoebe and the punishments for those actions don't seem to matter anymore
--she doesn't LISTEN even though I know she HEARS us and we have to ask several times for her to do, or not do something
--she has been throwing toys too, sometimes out of anger and sometimes just because
I am exhausted with her and don't know what to do and hope this will pass soon or hope something takes effect or changes! She has also started this thing of "Ow ow ow". Whenever we grab her upper arm to guide her somewhere and prevent her from going somewhere she shouldn't she immediately starts saying "Ow ow ow." I KNOW we are not hurting her because we aren't squeezing her arm, we are holding it. It stresses me out because anyone can look at this situation and hear her saying this and believe her and think we are actually hurting her. I don't know where she got this from or what made her think she could do this but it ridiculous and I don't like it!
I was hoping we weren't going to experience the 'Terrible 2's' because she communicates so well and she understands us very well, but I am beginning to wonder if this is a glimpse of what is to come of this stage. Blech!

oh good heavens, gotta love the 2's especially with a girl. At least with a boy they grow out of it, girls just grow onto something else to be whiny and mean about.
ReplyDeleteOh yay. Sorry no hints here- although I'm certain we're going to have trouble with Max. I know what you mean about how when they're throwing a fit and you're like, I'm NOT hurting you! but people are giving you LOOKS... Argh.
