Going Wild!

Sophia adores these wild animal plastic toys that Granny has at her house. She spent nearly 2 hours in the sandbox a couple weeks back playing with just the animals in the sand....and then in the tub. I broke down and got her 2 buckets of animals for our house--Safari Animals and Farm Animals. They came with a bunch of plastic rocks and trees too, which is great for more imaginative play. She was so excited about them, and very possessive (because they really were for her AND Phoebe). She really took to lining them all up and admiring them and talking to them. BJ was just happy she was finally interested in "boys toys".

    Cute! How fun! If she play with them like Yoroko does, they'll turn into elephant 'princesses' with wicked giraffe 'stepmothers'... not boy toys for long! :) Looks like so much fun, good toy choice!! Plus it doesn't make any noise!!

    Yeah I am not understanding the boy toys comment. When I was a kid my favorite toys were BJ's cars. He kept complaining about his shocks being ruined. I don't know what that was all about, but it sure was fun to slam them into each other and then mash them into the ground really hard after jumping them off a ramp and acting like they went high into the sky over my head. In fact I think I shall buy Sophia some hot wheels and teach her how to do the same. =) BJ, don't you love me! =)

    Haha! Looks like BJ has some explaining to do on the "boys toys" comment! The girls also do like to play with cars. Phoebe even puts them on the ground and pushes them back and forth going "vroom, vroom", so hot wheels wouldn't be a bad idea Aunt Bekah! :)

    You have to understand that boys have a tendency to claim all things that aren't the sole realm of women. Default is boy, unless claimed by women. It's just the way the world works. Sorry ladies.

Running simplescalar on Ubuntu in alpha config

I have to post this for future reference as there were so many pain points just getting simplescalar running that I needed to mirror some links and consolidate some tutorials. Here's a good guide to installing simplescalar . I'll mirror some of the information from another guide that worked for me as well. Phoebe loves shoes

OMG Shoes. Phoebe loves them. At any given moment Phoebe is either swapping shoes, trying on shoes, or digging through someone's closet for new shoes. Our recent trip to Bryan, TX to visit family, brought us to a children's play museum. There was a small selection of dress up items which of course included shoes. I Don't Mind

I don't mind the rapid spreading contagion of nerdity (I made the word nerdity up, which I think makes me a nerd. A fact that was never in doubt). My only lament is her hesitance to adopt my music. Seriously, I listen to some awesome music. Every week I find new bands, new sounds, and every once in a while I find gold. The only problem is that I've trained myself to like the weirdest stuff I can find. For example: [audio:01-unexpect-chromatic_chimera.mp3] The band is called uneXpect. They're probably considered metal but they have a certain jazz/circus music/opera influence. They're similar to Sleepytime Guerilla Museum but much heavier.
