Perspective
BJ said he was going to make a post about this, but I am beating him to it. Phoebe was beyond exhausted last night and ended up going to bed at 5:30pm. Sophia was chilling on the couch with some juice being very quiet. We were grilling burgers for dinner and had the vent fan on above the stove. The dishwasher was on (and if you have ever heard our dishwasher you would know it is VERY LOUD) and so was the stereo playing some rock music. I was sitting down to eat my hamburger and commented about how quiet the house was. BJ looked at me like I was a bit nuts and asked me "Wait...you think this is quiet?! We have the dishwasher on, music playing, the fan on, and the sound of sizzling burgers." I said, "Yeah, it's peaceful." Shortly thereafter, though, he pinpointed the real cause: the children weren't making noise. No one was bothering me during my meal and there was no screaming, yelling, or craziness going on in the rest of the house. It was just the simple sounds in the kitchen as a result of BJ and I being together making and having dinner. Strange how my perspective or opinion of "quiet" has changed over the years. "Quiet" is no longer the absence of sound, just the absence of children! Haha!
Love that...and totally agree!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. I love my kids but it is so nice when they are busy elsewhere and I can just do my thing in peace!!
