We have a new pet, Beatrice the hamster. Beatrice is very active and loves running around in her hamster ball. Her favorite food is carrot and she loves attention.
I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU HAVE A HAMSTER. Which daughter talked you into this? And how long before Dawn figures out how to open the hamster cage? I think it's hysterical that you named her Beatrice. And she is a cute little rodent.
This might not have been apparent given Heather's fancy for cats but she's a definite rodent person. She had a pet rat when she was younger. This actually happened because of Youtube. Sophia was in hysterics one night as we watched youtube videos of hamsters.
I went to the pet store to price them out and they're relatively cheap. We picked up Beatrice, a little cage, hamster ball, food, bedding, and some home decor for little Bea and were out the door for under 70 dollars.
The girls are a little young for it to be theres but Heather absolutely adores Beatrice and plays with her for an hour or more every night.
It's no lie.....I am also a rodent person on top of being a cat person. Not a good combo huh? Anyway, yes, I love "Little B" (as I call her) and she is fun to play with. She never fails to make me smile or feel good. We actually don't have to worry about Dawn. We had B for a few days before Dawn even noticed her. Then she butted the cage around a few times with her head, but it is B who breaks out. She has gotten out of her roller ball twice--we had to move the washer and dryer just to find her and get her out. She also broke out of her pink cage by bending one of the bars and popping the metal away from the plastic parts. Luckily BJ was in the room to catch her and promptly put a book on top. Naughty little girl. :)
I have to post this for future reference as there were so many pain points just getting simplescalar running that I needed to mirror some links and consolidate some tutorials. Here's a good guide to installing simplescalar . I'll mirror some of the information from another guide that worked for me as well. The first link also contains the files you'd need to get it running. I'll also rehost them here. Here's a tutorial taken from here. Download the packages here. simplesim-3v0d.tgz simpleutils-990811.tar.gz simpletools-2v0.tgz gcc-2.7.2.3.ss.tar.gz Untar the source code into a simplesim directory mkdir simplesim (wherever you want to put this...you can name it whatever) tar xzvf (the z flag unzips a gzip file as well as untars it.... if you have straight tar files then use tar xvf ) In simpetools-2v0.tgz, there is a gcc-2.6.3 compiler. Since we don't need this, delete it. rm -rf gcc-2.6.3 Note: Before installing simple scalar package, ...
OMG Shoes. Phoebe loves them. At any given moment Phoebe is either swapping shoes, trying on shoes, or digging through someone's closet for new shoes. Our recent trip to Bryan, TX to visit family, brought us to a children's play museum. There was a small selection of dress up items which of course included shoes. Phoebe immediately began prancing around in her new shoes. 59585|400 Heather wanted some pictures of Phoebe in her cousins boy clothes as well. Phoebe had run out of sleepers and needed something to wear. We got a good picture but also a picture reflecting her true feelings on wearing boys clothes. 59621|400 59615|400
I don't mind the rapid spreading contagion of nerdity (I made the word nerdity up, which I think makes me a nerd. A fact that was never in doubt). My only lament is her hesitance to adopt my music. Seriously, I listen to some awesome music. Every week I find new bands, new sounds, and every once in a while I find gold. The only problem is that I've trained myself to like the weirdest stuff I can find. For example: [audio:01-unexpect-chromatic_chimera.mp3] The band is called uneXpect. They're probably considered metal but they have a certain jazz/circus music/opera influence. They're similar to Sleepytime Guerilla Museum but much heavier. Anyway, I'm a huge fan and really have to suggest picking up their latest release In a Flesh Aquarium . I've also been doing some hunting lately and need to share the fruits of my searching. This first one is easy. It's the background music to the Gears of War commercial . Give it a look see. It's breaking d...
