February was only slightly more kind
I was still sick with sinus problems in the beginning of the month so I asked to get back into my ENT specialist. It took one short visit with him for the doctor to agree with me---I needed sinus surgery. When things were moving along with this my oldest sister living in Bryan, Texas (near College Station) had a medical emergency. My mom was gone for 3 weeks so I had some working days this months. My mom was home for less than I week, I think it was, before she needed to go back, once again, on an emergency basis. So I quickly packed up the girls and myself, grabbed my mom and left. We were gone for 4 days. While it was a lot of work for my mom and myself while we were there the cousins very much enjoyed playing together.
While we were there Sophia caught a cold so as soon as we were back in town we were back into her specialist. We did get good news with her blood work---she has no allergic reactions and a good IgE score. Yay! That was a worrisome load off my chest. However, we were instructed to put her back on breathing treatments and keep her at home. Once again the breathing treatments seemed to be the key to her getting well quickly.
I was home for 4 days and then had my surgery February 26th. I was nervous and a little scared but as soon as my sedation drugs kicked in nothing but sleep mattered. I was in pain, and felt weak all over and with each passing day the pain, swelling, and weakness has been subsiding. I had quite a bit of bleeding the first day but that was about it. I actually had spacers stitched into my ethmoid sinuses and it was NOT FUN having them removed. I did have my nose numbed but the medicine was so nasty. The whole experience was terrible. In fact, less than a week later while I was visiting my sister I pulled an inch a half stitch out of my left nostril. Bleh. The below picture is the evening of the same day of my surgery. The girls were obviously worried about me and missed me, particularly Phoebe. They both wanted mama snuggles and as long as they were gentle and didn't touch my head or face Daddy let them be around me. I have had to have a lot of naps and rest which has been nice, but I am SO ready to get back into normal life. I can't wait for all the pain and scabbing to go away to see and feel the true results of the surgery.

I look miserable and drugged up, don't I?
So, that was February. More sickness, unexpected travel, doctor visits, and surgery. Oh, we did have a scary thing happen with Phoebe. It was 2 days post-op for me and I here a HUGE crash come from the girl's room. It turns out that Phoebe had opened all the drawers to the dresser in an attempt to get clothes for herself and it FELL ON TOP OF HER!! BJ rushed in and threw drawers off of her and brought her to me in bed to cuddle. She promptly calmed down and then took a nap with me. We were so lucky, the only damage done to her was a scratch just below her right eye near her nose. Within 10 minutes BJ anchored it the wall. I have since also moved her clothes to the bottom 2 drawers. She loves picking out her own outfits and clothes so I don't know why I didn't do this earlier to make it easier for her. Oh well, problem solved.
Oh March, what do you have in store?
