The Family Bed

Sophia said something this morning that sparked quite a thought, and a confirmation of what she said, in my head. Lately the girls have taken to snuggling in bed with us when they come in in the morning. It is not every morning, but it has become more frequent than it was in the past. Phoebe was already cuddling with me in the bed when Sophia came in. I saw her and said "Uh, oh. Sophia's coming too." While she was climbing up the foot of the bed to assume her snuggle position she said "Well, this is the family bed, right?"

It made both BJ and I giggle, but while we all lay there burrowed into each other I realized something. What she said is true! It may be Mommy and Daddy's bedroom, but it truly IS a family bed. There have been many times that I have taken naps in that bed with either girls, taken naps with Dawn (our ancient cat), or Dawn simply sleeping there on her own. The girls have taken naps on it by themselves or when they have been really sick they have spent the night with me. They enjoy bringing stuffed animals and toys onto the bed and playing with them. And I can't forget the ultimate morning snuggle time they enjoy in the bed before we all get up for breakfast. All of this has changed it from a bed for just BJ and I to one for the whole family. And I don't mind. :-)

    Too cute! Our bed is too a 'family bed'! Because there is not one morning EVER that the 'boys' mainly aren't in our bed trying to take it over. James just started, and Taylor has been doing it since he could walk. Reaganne comes very once in awhile, but mainly only on the weekends. ;) We are hoping to upgrade our 'family bed' to a king one day to accommodate our family of five. ;)

Running simplescalar on Ubuntu in alpha config

I have to post this for future reference as there were so many pain points just getting simplescalar running that I needed to mirror some links and consolidate some tutorials. Here's a good guide to installing simplescalar . I'll mirror some of the information from another guide that worked for me as well. Phoebe loves shoes

OMG Shoes. Phoebe loves them. At any given moment Phoebe is either swapping shoes, trying on shoes, or digging through someone's closet for new shoes. Our recent trip to Bryan, TX to visit family, brought us to a children's play museum. There was a small selection of dress up items which of course included shoes. I Don't Mind

I don't mind the rapid spreading contagion of nerdity (I made the word nerdity up, which I think makes me a nerd. A fact that was never in doubt). My only lament is her hesitance to adopt my music. Seriously, I listen to some awesome music. Every week I find new bands, new sounds, and every once in a while I find gold. The only problem is that I've trained myself to like the weirdest stuff I can find. For example: [audio:01-unexpect-chromatic_chimera.mp3] The band is called uneXpect. They're probably considered metal but they have a certain jazz/circus music/opera influence. They're similar to Sleepytime Guerilla Museum but much heavier.
