Silly Sophia
BJ and I often say to each other, "Our kids are nuts." Or bonkers or insane and so on. When it comes right down to it they are just being kids and are being more silly than anything else. Sophia has started two nutty......um, silly......things lately: "speaking Spanish" and beat boxing.
Her Uncle Michael knows how to beat box and got even better at it while away on his mission. He has performed for Sophia a few times since being home and she loves it. She has tried on her own multiple times to figure this beat boxing thing out. She once asked her daddy how to do it and he told her to say "boots and cats" repeatedly as fast as she could. That didn't last too long and so she adopted her own way. She will make a series of strange noises using her tongue, teeth and mouth. (but isn't that what real beat boxing is anyway?) At first I didn't know what she was doing, because this really just started this past week,so when I asked her she told me "beat boxing." It is almost like a tick for her now because she could be right in the middle of eating, or playing, or really anything and will bust out with a few of her beat boxing notes. In fact, as I am sitting here now doing this post she is playing with a doll and beat boxing every once in awhile.

BJ got the girls hooked on Dragon Ball Z Kai. For anyone who has watched the series knows it drags on and on and on. A single fight can practically last the entire season. BJ found this company who condensed a lot of the shows to make it MUCH shorter and more tolerable to watch. Not all of them have been translated to English. When it is in Japanese Sophia has BJ read the captions to her so she can understand what is going on. However, she thinks they are speaking Spanish and says she likes the "Spanish ones". Just recently she has started speaking to what equates to pure gibberish. Being the curious and confused mother that I was I asked her what she was saying or doing. "I am speaking Spanish," she tells me. Then when we were playing she would speak her gibberish and then say "that means _______" with whatever she thought it meant at the time. She doesn't do this one as often as the beat boxing thing, but it sure is entertaining!
