The Eyes Have It

Image
Thought these "eye" shots were too pretty not to share.  People always tell us, strangers even, that we are in trouble as parents when they are older.  We tend to agree with that statement.  Just look at these girls!

Sophia + Phoebe = Daphne

My immediate reaction when Daphne was born was surprise at how much she resembled her sisters.  I was dying to get home so I could compare baby photos.  In the hospital I really thought she looked more like Sophia did.  After looking at the photos I realized she resembled Phoebe more.  However, BJ made a really good observation after looking at all our kids---Daphne is basically a result if baby Sophia and baby Phoebe had a baby. This is Sophia while still in the hospital....... This is Phoebe in the hospital...... And here is Daphne...... I will do another post later with photos of them within the first 2-3 months of age for another comparison; hopefully with their eyes open!  It really is amazing to see!  What has also been fun for me to do is pull up a picture of the girls as babies and quiz them on who they think it is.  Most of the time they say Daphne, even when they are looking at pictures of themselves.  So even THEY can't tell the difference sometimes!

Big Sisters

Image
These 2 little girls wanted us to have a baby before I was even pregnant.  Then when I was pregnant they were super excited and impatient.  It helped that it was a little sister on the way because they both wanted another girl in the house.  Just imagine how Daddy might have felt about that!  Before Daphne was born Sophia would tell me all the ways that she planned on helping me.  She has lived up to her promises......mostly.  She loves holding her, is more than willing to give her a bottle, enjoys playing with her, and will fetch me things.  The first couple weeks she was great about getting me things I needed---diapers, the wipes, etc.  THAT quickly faded so I began relying on Phoebe.  They both have their moments of telling me "no" and being lazy about helping out.  However, when it comes to loving Daphne and being her friend there is no laziness there.  They adore her, and I have been very proud of them both for how helpful they have been and how positive they are about ...

I got tired of dealing with this mess....... So we did this..... And we both agree she is way stinkin' cute this way!

Quick Update

Image
We are doing fairly well in the Atchley house lately.  BJ and I could use more sleep, but we have learned to take turns on some days, and on others the girls are merciful to me and let me nap.  Daphne is wonderful.  She hardly ever cries and it takes something extreme to get her to.  She really only wakes up twice during the night to eat, and that second time is pretty much early morning.  She poops like crazy so that is annoying.  Seriously, we will change 2 poopy diapers in 10 minutes of each other on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day.  Where does it all come from?!?! Her head and neck are incredibly strong.  In the recovery room she was already lifting her head and she has only gotten stronger.  She can hold her head up for several seconds and loves to look around when she is awake.  She is good at making eye contact and enjoys being talked to while awake.  She likes to snuggle and has had many a night already sleeping right next to me or on top of me.  Sometimes that is...

Does sleeping like this make my cheeks look fat?
