Quick Update

We are doing fairly well in the Atchley house lately.  BJ and I could use more sleep, but we have learned to take turns on some days, and on others the girls are merciful to me and let me nap.  Daphne is wonderful.  She hardly ever cries and it takes something extreme to get her to.  She really only wakes up twice during the night to eat, and that second time is pretty much early morning.  She poops like crazy so that is annoying.  Seriously, we will change 2 poopy diapers in 10 minutes of each other on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day.  Where does it all come from?!?!

Her head and neck are incredibly strong.  In the recovery room she was already lifting her head and she has only gotten stronger.  She can hold her head up for several seconds and loves to look around when she is awake.  She is good at making eye contact and enjoys being talked to while awake.  She likes to snuggle and has had many a night already sleeping right next to me or on top of me.  Sometimes that is the only way I can get her to fall back asleep at night.  (at least in a timely manner, because I am exhausted!)

I have to mention that I forgot how cute baby legs are!  I love looking at her (bare)  legs and watching her stretch and move them.  Her thighs are really packing on the weight and I love the 'chubbs' she is getting on them.  YUM!  She has very long fingers and large hands.  Just after she was born my doctor and the nurses mentioned it, then it was mentioned again by the nurse at the pediatrician's office.  I have since looked long and hard at her hands---it's true!  She resembles her daddy when it comes to sneezing.  BJ sneezes through his nose and mouth and it is very loud.  Daphne does this thing when she is sneezing (not all the time) as if she is trying to avoid sneezing, so she makes this noise through her mouth that sounds like a little yell.  It's cute, you would have to hear it to really have this make sense.  More to come about her big sisters and how they are doing with all this!

  1. Thank you for posting more pictures of this cutie! I can't wait to meet her and see those chubby baby thighs.

    Two things:
You asked where all the pooping comes from. It comes from you, Heather, it comes from you.

Also, that little gown she is wearing is Gwendolyn's. Can I have it back when Daphne is finished with it? Those little gowns are my favorite newborn wardrobe staple.
