The Dish on Daphne
Oh this little girl is such a joy to have in our lives!!!! I do miss the sleep I am lacking at night, but when I look at her sweet face, and she smiles at me, then all the bad, rough, exhausting parts just melt away.
She did a wonderful thing for BJ on Father's Day. We were all sitting at the table having dinner. I was holding her on my lap facing BJ. She was very focused on BJ and was smiling at him. Then out of nowhere she begins to laugh! She did it 2 more times! It was the sweetest sound to hear, and her whole face lit up. Keep in mind that at the time she was approx. 9 weeks old and I believe early for a baby to be laughing. She completely shocked us. I told BJ "Happy Father's Day from Daphne!" What a sweet gift from his baby girl--her first laugh, and at him no less! We have tried and tried to get her to laugh since that day with no luck. We get her big smiles that she always gives us, but no laughs. We can't wait to hear it again.
She had her 2 month check up several days ago. She is in the 97th percentile for height. If she keeps this up she will be taller than Sophia. Sophia has been in the 95th percentile since birth, but it looks like her 'little sister' won't be so little her whole life. She has looked large to us for some time, it was nice to have confirmation that our eyes weren't deceiving us---she is loooong!
Each of our kids had their own little quirky things. She loves to hold her hands together and play with them. She looks at them most of the time while she is doing it too. It's fun to watch her try and figure out what they are. I have also found her asleep with her hands clasped tightly together resting under her chin. Daphne is just shy of 3 months, and she is so close to rolling over! I keep waiting thinking it is going to happen any second. She just needs to realize she can keep going. This is very recent, but she has also learned the joy of chewing and sucking on her fingers. She will get about 2 or 3 fingers in there and have a ball.
I like how this last picture really shows off her baby double chin. We rather enjoy it and love to see it when it chooses to show itself. She can also really show off her chunky baby cheeks sometimes too. She is putting on weight so fast and really porking out. The best part? Kissing those chunky cheeks! Mmmm, and occasionally pinching them too. Ha ha!
