It's working!......so far
If any of you have heard/know my children you know they have been screamers since they were little. The older girls have *mostly* outgrown it, but Daphne is right in the middle of this phase. (sigh) If you have heard them scream you will also know they are very LOUD. Like, piercing loud. Daphne screams when she is mad at her sisters, screams when she is sad, or even happy. There is a lot of screaming in our house lately. Being 19 months old she still doesn't understand a lot of what we are saying to her, but she does understand a finger to the mouth with a "Sh!" So we decided to start this over the weekend and so far she seems to get it. She doesn't scream as long or stops when we shush her. Still, there is (or was at least) doubt in my mind if she understands what we are trying to communicate to her; what we expect of her. I received my proof tonight! Phoebe was completely sobbing about something and Daphne walked up to her leaned forward a little and "sssshhhh" her! She kept doing it too, so I nodded my head to let her know she was correct and joined her by putting my finger to my lips and shushing Phoebe as well. Little one imitated that too. I guess we will keep it up and hopefully she will move on from her screaming phase very, very soon!
Glad it looks like it might be working!
