Laugh in Translation

A conversation I had with Sophia and Phoebe the other day while sitting at the table eating lunch....

Somehow we got on the topic of how you say things in Spanish.  Phoebe starts off with trying to say "dad" in Spanish.  Sophia helped her and also told her about "mom".  I took it a step further and told them "hermana" was Spanish for sister and "hermano" is for brother.  Their minds were blown.  So they began repeating all these words trying to figure out the sounds when this gem came out of Phoebe.....

P: How do you laugh in Spanish?

H: (trying to hide laughing) They just laugh.  They laugh however they laugh.  Mexicans (because that is what we have in Texas, so don't judge!) are people like us and they just laugh their own way.

P:  Like this? (then starts to do a weird laugh)

S:  Or like this?  (also an odd laugh)

H:  No, no you guys.  They laugh however the laugh is for each person, like you.

S:  So do Spanish people not laugh?

H:  (thinking, is she seriously asking me this after what I JUST said, but before I had a chance to respond Phoebe said.....)

P:  Or do they not like doing it?

H:  (again, trying really hard not to laugh) What?! NO, they just laugh!

And then the conversation devolved into something else I can't even remember.  These kids are priceless.
