Growing up is hard to do (for their mother)

We have been discussing the topic of Sophia having her own room for several months now.  We needed to wait until Daphne was sleeping in a "big girl bed" which she has done beautifully for a few weeks now.  So I began the process today of moving some of the girl's stuff around.  I figured it would take a little bit of work each day for 3-4 days and then we would have everything in place.  We began with the closets today and something happened to me that I didn't expect......I broke down crying.  I was moving her backpack and sleeping bag from where they have made their home for years in her closet.  That is where they belong--no other room!  The back bedroom started out as HER nursery and has predominantly been HER room, with Phoebe joining her in there only a few years ago.  But then I got used to her and Phoebe's things being together.  In a lot of ways we treat them like twins and they have many similar items and those items are usually kept together---so their backpacks are together, their sleeping bags are together, their jewelry boxes are together, and so on.  So the physical action of me removing these items from this room to another really pained me because I could FEEL the separation of these children that I was causing.  Don't get me wrong, the girls are VERY excited about the changes and I am too, but the emotional process is hard.  Knowing Sophia is getting her own room again means she is growing up, she is becoming a "big kid" with more responsibilities and freedom.  I felt like she was moving out of the house or something!  So in turn, with Sophia getting her own room now and Daphne moving in with Phoebe and getting the bottom bunk, is also an indicator that Daphne is growing up.  She's not a baby anymore and is in full blown toddler mode now.  At least these kiddos will handle this bedroom change more easily than their mother!
