Daphne....and other lovin'

Last week we found out we are having girl #3!!! BJ will do a post of his own about how he feels, since he is so outnumbered now. Having another girl is a dream come true for me and I am super excited. We have known for some time now that if it was a girl we wanted to name her Daphne. We have not agreed on a middle name yet, but we are very pleased with our choice of Daphne. Yes, we acknowledge that all three of our girls will have a PH in their name and that they are all Greek Goddess names; it just sorta worked out that way. I have to say I am beyond impatient and excited for this little girl to get here! I have several days where I become overwhelmed with a feeling of love for this baby and a strong desire to just hold her and snuggle. I know in my heart these girls are going to be wonderful big sisters to Daphne. Phoebe, as I mentioned in a previous post, pretends she has a baby in her belly. A day never goes by that Phoebe isn't playing with the 2 babydolls she has and...

Running simplescalar on Ubuntu in alpha config

I have to post this for future reference as there were so many pain points just getting simplescalar running that I needed to mirror some links and consolidate some tutorials. Here's a good guide to installing simplescalar . I'll mirror some of the information from another guide that worked for me as well. The first link also contains the files you'd need to get it running. I'll also rehost them here. Here's a tutorial taken from here. Download the packages here. simplesim-3v0d.tgz simpleutils-990811.tar.gz simpletools-2v0.tgz gcc-2.7.2.3.ss.tar.gz Untar the source code into a simplesim directory mkdir simplesim (wherever you want to put this...you can name it whatever) tar xzvf (the z flag unzips a gzip file as well as untars it.... if you have straight tar files then use tar xvf ) In simpetools-2v0.tgz, there is a gcc-2.6.3 compiler. Since we don't need this, delete it. rm -rf gcc-2.6.3 Note: Before installing simple scalar package, ...

Babies

My parents, especially my mom, was right---once your parent's baby, always your parent's baby. I call my girls babies, but Phoebe more so. She tells me sometimes "I'm not a baby." However, I say to them several times a week "Come on babies we are leaving." Or some other communication involving me referring to them as babies. I enjoy saying it, and they are my children--my babies! For now I know I can get away with it, but it might not be so cute (or fun for them) when they are 6 and 7 or older. So for now I am going to try and get away with it. 6120|500 Sophia, only a few days old. 24723|500 Phoebe, approx. 3 months old.
