The early 5th Birthday Fiesta

Image
Sophia doesn't turn 5 until April 26th, waaaaayyyy too close to my due date.  So I had to make a choice of having her big friends party with a newborn or still pregnant.  I definitely voted for the still pregnant party.  BJ and I had always agreed that we would wait until her 5th birthday to do a big party.  We have so much family living around here so until now it was only family parties.  So a couple weekends ago we had her Fiesta themed party.  We had pin the tail on the donkey, a pinata, and personalized hand printed goody bags.  She picked out her own cake which had a large caterpillar on it.  She enjoyed herself so much and the pinata was the big hit of the party.....and the scramble for candy too of course!  Enjoy the photos! We couldn't even get photos of her opening her presents.  It was such a frenzy of her opening her gifts, friends looking in, and Phoebe trying to help.  She tore into them one after the other with such excitement.  If you ask her what her favorite p...

Proof

The girls apparently know what's what around this house...... Phoebe was wanting to play and climb on the couch.  The laptop was in her way and she get frustrated.  She picked it up and firmly placed it on the ottoman while exclaiming, "I don't NEED this!!!  I'm not a daddy!!!!"  Me thinks she associates the computer too much with someone in this house. Sophia was playing with the new Barbies she got for her birthday.  Barbie is a computer programmer (seriously, she comes with a cell phone and laptop with carrying case).  Anyway, so she had her new Ken doll and Barbie "hugging" each other.  She brings them to me and tells me, "Look mama, they are hugging and kissing!"  I of course  needed to ask, "Are they married?"  "Yes." Was her definitive reply.  Since Barbie is a computer programmer, and we explained this to her when she got the doll, I was curious as to what she would come up with for Ken.  So I ask while pointing to h...

Putting 3 princesses to bed

Sophia: How is daddy going to put 3 princesses to bed? Daddy: By being 3 times as strong. Mommy:What if we had a boy? Would he take the boy to bed? Sophia: (shakes head no) Well... a prince. He could take a prince to bed. Phoebe: Daddy's a prince. Mommy: What am I? Phoebe: A princess. Mommy: No, think higher. Phoebe: God? Mommy laughs. Phoebe asks mommy: Are you a god? Mommy: No. Daddy: Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!

Silly Sophia

Image
BJ and I often say to each other, "Our kids are nuts." Or bonkers or insane and so on.  When it comes right down to it they are just being kids and are being more silly than anything else.  Sophia has started two nutty......um, silly......things lately: "speaking Spanish" and beat boxing. Her Uncle Michael knows how to beat box and got even better at it while away on his mission.  He has performed for Sophia a few times since being home and she loves it.  She has tried on her own multiple times to figure this beat boxing thing out.  She once asked her daddy how to do it and he told her to say "boots and cats" repeatedly as fast as she could.  That didn't last too long and so she adopted her own way.  She will make a series of strange noises using her tongue, teeth and mouth. (but isn't that what real beat boxing is anyway?)  At first I didn't know what she was doing, because this really just started this past week,so when I asked her she told m...

Don't kick your sister

Daddy: Phoebe! Don't kick your sister. Mommy: If you keep kicking I'll pull your leg until it comes off. Phoebe: You can't pull off my leg, it's attached... And my bones are attached. Daddy: What if we detach them? Phoebe: But I have bones. Daddy: She does have bones. That seems a reasonable argument to not pull her legs until they come off. Mommy: OK
